Is there a difference between coaching different generations of people? Each generation has many different mentalities in common, and millennials are no different. They often have a ‘trophy’ mentality, which makes the difficult to coach. Here’s how to deal with it.

They are often entitled and over stimulated by false electronic connection. They aren’t as adept at human connection as previous generations because they don’t spend as much time with real human-to-human connection. Many do not have perspective on getting along with others in a productive way. As a coach, you are there to help them learn these skills and allow them to be productive members of a team.

As a coach, you are an expert mentor, a highly skills assistant as well as somewhat of a therapist. You must guide the new generation to the skills they need to be successful. Here is some excellent advice from Head Coach Jeff Walz on this problem.
